~My (Very Abbreviated) Work Life Story~
I was born in Santa Barbara, CA and moved to Truckee, CA when I was in Kindergarten. I lived in Truckee until I graduated from Tahoe-Truckee High School. During my high school years I was very active on sports teams and other committees. I worked as a life guard, swim instructor, swim coach and camp counselor. Once I graduated from High School I went onto college; I graduated from the University of California at Davis with a BA in Exercise Science and a minor in Education. I then decided to get my teaching credential and enrolled in National University. My first job was at West Marin School in Pt. Reyes, CA teaching 7th grade core. I then decided to move to Kailua-Kona, HI and worked as a 7th grade math teacher at Kealakehe Intermediate. After one year in Hawaii my husband and I decided to get married and move back to the mainland where I started teaching at Lake Forest Elementary School in El Dorado Hills, CA. I spent four years at Lake Forest Elementary School, three of those years I taught 5th grade and one year teaching fourth grade. Completing my fourth year at Lake Forest I had my second child and decided I would like to work from home for a few years and got a job with the California Virtual Academies. I spent a few years with CAVA until moving to Truckee and having my third child. I then took four years off from working to stay home with my children while they were young. Once my children were older I decided to get acquainted with teaching again and got a job as an RTI paraprofessional at Glenshire Elementary School, CA. I realized how much I missed teaching and was fortunate to get a job teaching 1st grade during the summer school session for Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District at Kings Beach Elementary School. I then taught 4th grade at Silver Lake Elementary School in Reno, NV until January of 2016; which is part of the Washoe County School District. In January I was offered an internship position for Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District while completing my Mild-Moderate Special Education teaching credential. The remainder of 2016 I worked as a resource teacher at both North Tahoe High School and Tahoe Lake Elementary. In 2016 I switched to only working at NTHS as a resource teacher and stayed at NTHS until June of 2017. In the fall of 2017 I started working at Alder Creek Middle School and am currently still teaching there as a resource teacher.
~My Hobbies and Interests~
My family and I thoroughly enjoy being outside. In the summer time we enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, riding bikes, going to the lake, and swimming. In the winter time we love to ski, snowshoe, go sledding, ice skating, and build snow forts. We love exploring new places and seeing new things.
~My Family~
My husband and I have three children and two dogs. My husband is a paramedic/firefighter and loves his career. We feel very fortunate to both have careers helping people and being an integral part of the communities in which we work.
